WHAT IS CORNHOLE

Cornhole is a popular outdoor (or indoor) game in which players or teams take turns throwing small bean bags at a raised platform with a hole in it. The goal is to either land a bean bag on the platform (for one point) or get it through the hole (for three points). The game is usually played by two players (singles) or four players (doubles), with each player standing behind a platform and trying to score by throwing their bags toward the other platform.

Here’s a quick rundown of how the game works:

TRADITIONAL RULES

Setup:

Two boards are needed. Players stand about twenty seven feet apart in regulation or competitive play. The distance can be adjusted for casual games.

The Bags:

Each player or team receives four bags. Each player or team has their own colored bags.

Gameplay:

  • Players or teams face off against each other.

  • Each player alternates tossing their bags towards the opposing platform.

  • Once all eight bags have been thrown (four per player or team), the round ends.

Scoring:

  • One bag on the board is one point. One bag in the hole is three points.

  • After each round, only the team with the higher score gets the points for that round.

  • For example: if one team scores five points and the other scores three points, the team with five points earns two points for the round.

  • The game is typically played to twenty one points, but you can adjust this for your preferred length of play.

CORNHOLE WAR RULES

Our modern twist on a family favorite!

Set up:

Only one board is needed, but you can play with as many as you like. Two or more players are needed to play the game. The players will stand about twenty feet from the board. Distance is really your choice.

The bags:

Each player will receive three bags of the same color.

Gameplay:

  • Players will face off individually for ten rounds. You may add as many rounds as you'd like.

  • Each player takes alternating turns throwing all three bags.

  • After all bags have been thrown, the round is over and all points are awarded to each player accordingly.

Scoring:

  • One bag on the board is one point. One bag in the hole is three points. If a player sinks all three bags in the hole they will be awarded their points PLUS their opponent’s points.

  • If more than one player sinks all three bags, war begins. Each player must collect their bags and throw all three at the board again.  Whoever has the most on the board wins that round of war. (Repeat until someone misses and a winner is found.)

  • Track your points via the scorecard provided.

  • The player with the most points wins the game!
